GFI announced the release of GFI Network Server Monitor version 5.5, an upgrade of its automatic network and server monitoring tool. The upgraded version includes a remote web monitor, which allows administrators to check network and server status from anywhere in the world using a web browser, a mobile phone, or any handheld device such as a BlackBerry.

GFI released an update to its email exploit engine today which can detect any viruses that exploit a newly discovered Outlook 2002 vulnerability. The new Outlook vulnerability, MS04-009, was yesterday upgraded to "high risk" by Microsoft Corp, which issued a patch against it on Tuesday (more details at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-009.mspx). The vulnerability is related to the way mailto URLs are handled and could allow Internet Explorer to execute code on affected machines.

GFI announced that it will release an update to GFI DownloadSecurity for ISA Server 6 to support the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004. GFI DownloadSecurity for ISA Server 2004 is a content security product that handles the security risk of file downloads without resorting to blocking them all at firewall level. GFI DownloadSecurity content checks downloaded files for malicious content and viruses, and enables administrators to assert control over what files users download from HTTP and FTP sites.
